Tour Plan (Itinerary)

After being collected from your Cape Town accommodation, your day begins with an orientation drive through the heart of the city. Your guide introduces Cape Town’s layout and history, taking in the landmarks of the city centre before a stop in the Bo-Kaap, the historic former Cape Malay Quarter famous for its steep cobbled streets and houses painted in every bright colour.

Weather permitting, you ride the revolving cable car to the summit of Table Mountain, the flat-topped peak that defines the city’s skyline. From more than a thousand metres up, the views stretch across the city bowl, the Atlantic coastline, Robben Island and the peaks of the Cape Peninsula. Gentle walking paths along the top lead to different viewpoints, and your guide can point out the landmarks laid out below.

Because the cable car depends on clear, calm weather, your guide builds the day to take advantage of the best conditions, and the visit can be moved to another time if cloud or wind closes the mountain.

You are returned to your accommodation in the evening.

Today you explore the dramatic Cape Peninsula. Travelling along the Atlantic seaboard, you pass the beaches and villas of Clifton and Camps Bay beneath the Twelve Apostles mountain range, with photo stops at scenic viewpoints. The route then joins Chapman’s Peak Drive, a spectacular road carved into the cliffs between Hout Bay and Noordhoek, with the ocean far below on one side and sheer rock rising on the other.

Continuing south, you reach the Cape of Good Hope section of Table Mountain National Park, a rugged landscape of fynbos, cliffs and empty beaches at the south-western tip of Africa. At Cape Point you can walk or take the funicular up to the old lighthouse for sweeping views over the meeting point of the oceans, keeping an eye out for eland, baboons, ostriches and other wildlife along the way.

On the return journey you stop at Boulders Beach near Simon’s Town, home to a colony of African penguins that you can watch from boardwalks just metres away.

In whale season, roughly June to December, there is also a chance of spotting whales offshore before you head back to your accommodation.

Your final day is spent in the Cape Winelands, a short drive inland from the city among some of the oldest vineyards in the Southern Hemisphere. You begin in Stellenbosch, a historic university town with oak-lined streets, whitewashed Cape Dutch architecture and a relaxed, walkable centre ringed by mountains and wine estates.

From Stellenbosch you travel to Franschhoek, the “French Corner” settled by Huguenot refugees in the late 1600s and today regarded as one of South Africa’s finest food and wine destinations. The valley is surrounded by mountains and lined with estates, and its main street is full of restaurants, galleries and tasting rooms.

Throughout the day you enjoy guided tastings at a selection of estates, with the chance to learn how the region’s wines are made and to pair them with local cheeses. In the late afternoon you return to Cape Town, completing your three-day introduction to the Mother City.

Tour FAQs

Three days is enough to comfortably cover Cape Town’s main highlights: Table Mountain and the city on day one, the Cape Peninsula on day two, and the Cape Winelands on day three.

The tour is intended to include return cable car tickets. The cableway runs only in suitable weather, so if it closes the visit is rescheduled or that portion is adjusted.

Yes. On day two you visit Boulders Beach near Simon’s Town, where a colony of African penguins can be seen from boardwalks just metres away.

Yes. You travel with your own guide and vehicle throughout, so the pace and timing flex around the weather and your interests rather than a fixed group schedule.

Cape Town is a year-round destination. Summer (November to March) is warm and dry and best for the beaches and mountain, while June to December is whale season along the coast.
